Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I rent from you rather than some other broker or looking on my own?
We go the extra mile to help you get the apartment of your dreams. We are one of the oldest firms in the area and as such have developed great working relationships with landlords. We know who will provide you with good quality housing as well as adequate heat and hot water. The best way we can help is to save you time.
Do you really have time to go chasing and hunting apartments that you see advertised only to find that they are rented by the time you get there? What if you find an apartment you do like, do you know what the landlord is like? Do you know if you will get enough heat or hot water? We can help by matching you with not only the right apartment but more importantly with the right landlord for you.
How long have you been renting apartments in Astoria and Long Island City?
The owner of our firm has been actively renting apartments in Astoria and Long Island City since 1978. We have helped more than 1,000 people just like you find a suitable apartment.
Do you charge a fee simply for showing apartments?
No. We do not charge advance fees of any kind.
How much is your fee?
We charge a fee equivalent to one months rent. This is only payable if you find an apartment you like and are accepted by the landlord.
How soon should I begin to look for an apartment?
The sooner the better! Its always best to make contact with us 30-40 days in advance of your target move in date. However we have found suitable apartments with as little as a 5-day notice! Without sufficient notice you run the risk of taking an apartment that you are not crazy about.
Do I need to give my present landlord notice that I am moving?
Yes. It is always advisable to give your present landlord at least a 30-day notice of your intention to vacate the apartment. Its always best to leave on good terms.
Do you always do a credit check?
Yes. Today almost all landlords require a credit check before granting approval.
What if my credit isnt so good?
You should tell us up front about any derogatory credit issues. Knowing what they are in advance can help us place you with the appropriate landlord. There are certain landlords that may overlook certain credit issues. |
