The intention to sell our home began about two years ago when we decided to build a house in Florida. With the new home completed we commenced with the process of putting our Astoria home on the market. Not an easy decision to make because John has lived at this home all his life and I for as long as we have been married, 27 years.

We first went around to various realty shops within the neighborhood. We wanted to interview them and find out what the real estate market was doing. We were not impressed with what we came across. Some realtors were too pushy, some felt they knew more and therefore we should blindly follow their advice. Some wanted to do open houses right away which we did not want to engage in. My parents recently sold a home that's been in our family for over 60 years. Although I would be involved in all aspects of the sale, geography prevented me from being present every day. The selection of the correct broker was crucial to us.

The first time we met, you explained what you would do for me, and the steps you would take to sell the building, everything you told me that day was done by you, and much more. I left that day with a good feeling that this was in very capable hands. What you did not explain at the time, was the extraordinary amount of time that you would put in to make this happen.

At the time that I put the building on the market, I was still finishing having the building repaired after a fire, and dealing with tenant issues. The fact that I did not live in the building made dealing with these issues difficult. You were both most helpful in letting workers into the building to finish the work, finding contractors to come in and do other minor repairs (in a timely manner and at a fair price), and assisting the tenants in finding other suitable places to live. Your willingness to do this without being asked went beyond what I thought a realtor should do. This made the sale of the building happen in a timely manner.
